The Seattle Mariners stymied the Los Angeles Angels while sweeping a two-game home series last month.
With the Angels still struggling to score consistently, a repeat isn't out of the question when the teams meet for three games at Safeco Field beginning Monday night.
Boasting one of the AL's best pitching staffs, Seattle (34-32) proved too tough for Los Angeles on May 18 and 19, allowing just one run over its pair of victories.
The Angels (31-36) enter this series having scored three runs or fewer in all but one game of a 2-9 stretch, and in 21 of their last 35 contests. After pushing across seven runs Saturday to end a six-game slide, they fell 7-0 to Kansas City on Sunday, matching their shutout total of nine from all of 2010.
"It's hard to believe, especially because of the lineup we have," designated hitter Bobby Abreu said. "The way we're swinging, all of the pitchers look a little tougher. I don't want to offend anyone, but we haven't hit the way we're supposed to hit."
