The Los Angeles Dodgers seemed to find their hitting stroke while on a 10-game road trip. They hope to make a similar discovery during their longest homestand of 2011.
Saddled with a team batting average of .239 at home, Los Angeles kicks off a 12-game run at Dodger Stadium with the first of three against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.
Though the Dodgers (31-36) split their trek against Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Colorado, they batted .311 and scored at least 10 runs three times after having only two such offensive performances in the season's first 57 games.
Jamey Carroll went 15 for 30 on the trip, but Matt Kemp was even hotter, batting .654 (17 for 26) with seven of his NL-leading 20 homers and 16 RBIs. Kemp, Rod Barajas and James Loney all went deep Sunday off Ubaldo Jimenez in a 10-8 victory over the Rockies.
"We've gotten a little more athletic as we've gone. It's got to be a little bit of a pain to play against us," manager Don Mattingly told the Dodgers' official website.
