San Diego Padres vs Boston Red Sox

Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts
The personal success Adrian Gonzalez enjoyed during his previous five seasons with the San Diego enabled him to earn a lucrative deal with the Boston Red Sox.
Gonzalez faces his former team Monday night when the Red Sox host the struggling Padres, who look to avoid a season-high sixth straight loss.
From 2006-2010, Gonzalez hit .288 and averaged 32 home runs with 100 RBIs for San Diego. Because of financial constraints and Gonzalez's pending free agency, the Padres traded the three-time All-Star to Boston for three prospects in December.
He signed a $154 million, seven-year contract with the Red Sox in April, and has backed it up by leading the majors with a .348 average and 64 RBIs to go with 15 home runs. Gonzalez had two RBIs and recorded his 1,000th hit in Sunday's 12-3 win over Milwaukee.
Gonzalez has hit .424 with 18 RBIs on a current stretch where the Red Sox (43-28) have averaged 7.6 runs and won 13 of 15.
"He's having a great season so far. It doesn't surprise me. That's why he's an All-Star player," Gonzalez's former manager Bud Black told the Padres' official website. "I think it's been documented well that his game sets up for (Fenway Park), with the left field wall."
