The Connecticut Sun keep winning at home, but taking care of business on the road has been a long-standing concern for coach Mike Thibault's team.
The Sun will try to avoid losing in the nation's capital for a fourth straight time Thursday night when they go for their second victory over the Washington Mystics this season.
Connecticut (2-1) moved to 2-0 at Mohegan Sun Arena with Sunday's 90-79 victory over Tulsa, improving to 26-10 at home since the start of 2009. The Sun, though, have a 9-26 road record during that stretch -- a major reason Thibault's club has failed to make the postseason since 2008.
Connecticut, which fell 78-75 to Chicago on Friday in its only road game of 2011, has lost three in a row at Washington since an 82-60 victory July 27, 2008. However, the Sun should have plenty of confidence going into Thursday's visit.
Led by 18 points from reigning rookie of the year Tina Charles, five Sun players scored in double figures in an 89-73 season-opening win over Washington (1-2) on June 4. Connecticut hit 57.1 percent from the field for the fifth-best shooting performance in franchise history.
