The Baltimore Orioles' longest winning streak in nearly two years has returned them to .500. Getting above the break-even mark will likely require solving Gio Gonzalez.
The Orioles look for their first six-game winning streak in over three seasons when they face Gonzalez and the Oakland Athletics in the opener of a three-game series Friday night.
Baltimore (24-24) has won five in a row for the first time since June 2009, and the club hasn't managed a six-game winning streak since April 2-8, 2008.
Equaling that run will give the Orioles a winning record for the first time since they were 6-5 on April 14.
Baltimore got back to .500 with a 6-5, 12-inning win over Kansas City on Thursday, as Vladimir Guerrero delivered a walkoff single to score Robert Andino.
"We've got a little win streak going, so it feels very good," left fielder Nolan Reimold said. "Now we've got to get on the road and keep it going."
