The Baltimore Orioles' starters have quieted the Boston Red Sox over the last two games.
The reverse could easily happen with Jon Lester on the mound for Boston.
Lester looks to improve to 14-0 lifetime against the Orioles and help the Red Sox avoid a three-game sweep at Camden Yards on Thursday night.
Baltimore (10-12) has taken the first two games of this series behind strong starts from rookie Zach Britton and veteran Jeremy Guthrie, who have combined to limit Boston (10-13) to one run in 12 innings.
After losing 21 of the previous 23 meetings with the Red Sox, the Orioles have now taken 11 of 18 in the series.
"We've taken our licks. We know what it's like to lose, get our butts beat and get buried. It's not fun," said Luke Scott, who homered along with fellow Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones in Wednesday's 5-4 victory. "But at the same time, through the adversity we've learned to play hard, regardless of the circumstances. It's carrying over to now, where we've gotten better as a team."
