Calgary Flames vs Anaheim Ducks
8:00 PM ET, March 20, 2011
Honda Center, ANAHEIM, California
The Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames are just outside of playoff position in the Western Conference.
One of them could change that Sunday night -- and for more than seven years, a meeting at Honda Center would give that advantage to Anaheim.
The Ducks look to continue their home dominance over the Flames as they continue a crucial season-ending stretch against playoff contenders.
Anaheim (39-27-5) is tied with Calgary (37-27-5) for ninth in the West, one point behind Chicago and Nashville -- currently tied for seventh. They're all part of a logjam in a conference that has seven teams separated by six points while vying for the final five playoff spots.
"It's a fun time of the year to play," Anaheim goaltender Ray Emery said.
The Ducks are in ideal position to move among the top eight, as they've won 12 in a row at home over the Flames since Jan. 19, 2004. They won the most recent meeting there, 3-2 in a shootout Dec. 10, before taking a 5-4 decision at Calgary on Feb. 11.
Anaheim's streak against the Flames includes eight one-goal victories, and the team is a league-best 24-8-5 in games decided by that margin this season. The Ducks also are one of the toughest hosts in the conference with a 22-12-2 mark while winning five of its last seven at the Honda Center.
